Gulab & Rose Attar
Rose is the most recognisable note in Indian perfumery and the hardest to get right — too little and it smells green, too much and it turns soapy. Peflora carries two: Real Rose, which is the straightforward gulab, and Rose Gold, which is warmer and slightly sweet.
How to choose
Real Rose
The plain gulab — clean, recognisable and close to the flower. This is the one to buy if you want rose and nothing else.
Rose Gold
Warmer, with a sweetness underneath the rose. It reads as more of a perfume and less of a traditional attar, and it is the more popular of the two.
Gulab for the home
The Gulab Sugandhit Spray is for rooms and linen rather than skin — the same note in a form you can use around the house.
Layer it over wood
Rose sits beautifully on a sandalwood base. Chandan first, rose on top, and the rose lasts noticeably longer.
Common questions
Is gulab attar the same as rose attar?
Yes — gulab is the Hindi word for rose. Both names refer to the same fragrance family, and on this shop that is Real Rose and Rose Gold.
Which rose attar should I start with?
Real Rose if you want a true, recognisable gulab. Rose Gold if you would rather have something warmer and a little sweet.
Does rose attar suit men?
Yes. Rose is worn by men across the Middle East and in traditional Indian perfumery, particularly layered over sandalwood or oud.
